How do I know if I have hearing loss?
Ask yourself the questions listed here: Guide to Hearing Loss
How much is a hearing test?
The test is free.
Why are hearing aids so expensive?
There are several factors to consider; however, here are two things to keep in mind:
- There is a great deal of cost tied up in ever changing research and development to make continual improvements to hearing aid functions; the best hearing aids are sometimes processing 100-200 million calculations per second to make changes in frequencies heard, noises filtered, conversations boosted, etc. Subsequently, since hearing devices haven’t “arrived” per se, the best companies keep working to make something great even better.
- With Half Price Hearing Aids, you’re paying for lifetime services – cleanings, adjustments, re-programming, re-tests, and others, and those services all have intrinsic value. We offer an option that decreases those services, and lowers the cost, but very few people ever opt for that.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept any plan that has a hearing aid benefit.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, we have a program available that is 12 months no interest.
Why should I choose Half Price Hearing Aids?
We are one of the very few local, family-owned and operated hearing aid businesses in the area. We pride ourselves on friendly, excellent service – as our many referrals attest to – and we offer the most competitive pricing as well.
How long do hearing aids last?
With proper care and cleaning (which we always help with), they can last 5-7 years or even longer. However, many times our patients will take advantage of newer technology, features, and benefits, long before their hearing aids stop working.
Will new hearing aids connect to other devices?
Yes, depending on which model and level of technology; many of today’s hearing devices will send phone calls directly to them, stream music or podcasts, or even connect directly to a tv!
How long does it take to become accustomed to hearing aids?
It can vary from person to person, but if you’ve never worn them before, be prepared for an adjustment period of a couple weeks – remember, you’re going to be hearing things you probably haven’t heard in a while, your voice may sound different to you initially, and you’ll be “back” in the conversations you’ve been missing. It’s important to follow our advice for follow-up visits as you acclimate, and as we make the necessary changes to keep you hearing well!
Do hearing aids help with more than just hearing?
Absolutely! Hearing loss can be connected to cognitive decline, depression, anxiety, social withdrawal, falling and more, so the sooner you address your hearing loss the better.
